India's Maiden Regional Rapid Train 'Namo Bharat' Gets the Green Light from PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off India's first Regional Rapid Train Service (RRTS), christened as 'Namo Bharat'.
The train will connect Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Duhai Depot, a distance of 17 km.
The RRTS is a state-of-the-art rail-based system designed to provide high-speed connectivity between cities and towns within a region.
The trains on the RRTS have a design speed of 180 kmph and an operational speed of 160 kmph.
They are equipped with modern amenities such as air-conditioning, CCTV cameras, and passenger information systems.
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor is the first of its kind in India. The entire corridor is 82 km long and will connect Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour.
The corridor is being developed at a cost of over ₹30,000 crore. The RRTS is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Delhi and Meerut.
The current travel time by car is about 3 hours, while the RRTS will reduce it to just 55 minutes.
The flagging off of the Namo Bharat RRTS is a major milestone in the development of India's urban transportation infrastructure.
